Spray tan preparation

Preparing for your spray tan is so important and there are lots of things you can do to help achieve an even, natural glow. Please take the time to read the tips and ticks below to make sure your spray tan preparation sets you up to achieve a beautiful, natural looking tan. Spray tan preparation the week before your appointment

• Exfoliate! if you don’t regularly exfoliate your skin, now’s the time to start. Exfoliating every couple of days in the weeks preceding your spray tan will ensure the tan is even, lasts as long as possible, and fades more evenly.

• What should you exfoliate with? the key with exfoliating is using something gentle on the skin that won’t scratch. You can use an exfoliating scrub or mitt, after years of fake tanning I personally prefer to use a wash cloth with some light oil free soap. Make sure you are gentle so as not to cause any skin irritation.

• Shaving should be done at least 24 hours prior to your spray tan, and be mindful that some razors have a moisturizing part that can leave residue on your skin that may impact your tan.

• Waxing should be done at least 48 hours before your spray tan as it will affects the outer most layer of your skin and could impact the evenness of your tan.

• Hydration may not seem obvious, but drinking of plenty of water will hydrate your skin from the inside out and minimize dry patches allowing your spray tan to go on evenly.

• Exfoliate for the final time

• Shave any areas required

• Do not shave, wax or exfoliate!

• Keep hydrating

• At least 30 minutes before your tan artist arrives, be sure to remove any makeup, oils, moisturizers and deodorants, as these will affect the consistent application of the tan

• Avoid swimming and showering right before your appointment

• Remove all jewelry
